Course: Autoimmune Series - Crohn’s Disease & Ulcerative Colitis Instructor: Ivan Zavala Target Audience: Acupuncturists and CM practitioners/students Duration: 1 class (3 hours total) Language: English Date: May 11, 2026 at 7 pm (Lisbon / London Time) Location: Zoom Online class Minimum number required of enrolled students: 20 This is the last part of a five-course series on autoimmune diseases. Each course is stand-alone but recommended in sequence for a comprehensive understanding. Focus: Gastrointestinal Autoimmune Diseases: This final course focuses on autoimmune diseases with a gastrointestinal component, such as Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis, focusing on their complex patterns, diagnostic challenges, and the need for swift symptom management. Abdominal diagnosis is key to differentiation, and a targeted approach is essential due to dietary restrictions and patient distress. This course explores pathophysiology and introduces Chinese medicine (CM) equivalents for these conditions. Instructor: Ivan Zavala, founder of Cloudgate Acupuncture, specializes in autoimmune diseases and internal medicine. Former Department Head at Chicago College of Oriental Medicine, he developed and taught advanced herbalism, acupuncture methodologies, and diagnostics. As an international lecturer in Latin America and Europe, he focuses on Shang Han Za Bing Lun and Classical acupuncture, treating severe and complex diseases using insights from Chinese medical classics. General Goals: -Learn CM equivalents for Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis -Understand autoimmunity and gastrointestinal pathophysiology -Develop treatment strategies integrating CM and Western medicine Specific Goals: -Gain insight into the variable presentations of autoimmune diseases and how to approach each case. -Learn individualized treatment protocols based on the unique needs of each patient, recognizing that autoimmunity cannot be treated with a one-size-fits-all approach. Program: This 5-course series provides a comprehensive approach to autoimmunity, integrating CM and Western treatments. It examines the effects of steroids, biologics, and immunosuppressants, which significantly impact disease progression and treatment outcomes. Certification: At the end of the course, a training certificate will be issued with the number of hours spent, if the student attended at least 80% of the live classes. This course will be recorded and you will have lifetime access to it.

Cancellation Policy In accordance with the provisions of Article 17 of Decree-Law No. 24/2014, the customer has until the application deadline to resolve the contract without payment of compensation and without the need to indicate the reason. Global Branches reserves the right to cancel or change the dates of the courses and other events, whenever they do not have the minimum required participants or because of an instructor's impossibility (reasons of greater force). Whenever there is an event cancellation or a change in the event’s date, the trainee shall be entitled to receive the amount charged for the training in question or the credit to be discounted in training or content made available by Global Branches. In the impossibility of the trainee to be able to participate in the training, he will have to notify the Global Branches formally, until the start of the training. Cancellations received after the application deadline (7 days before the start of the course) do not entitle the trainee to any return or exchange. The course withdrawals do not entitle the trainee to any refund of the registration payment.
